Over the past weeks, as I’ve immersed myself into my new role as Vice-President, Marketing and Philanthropy, I’ve learned how your philanthropy directly impacts our programs and services here at Parkinson Canada.
People living with Parkinson’s are at the heart of our mission. While I’ve been inspired by the committed individuals here at Parkinson Canada who are striving to empower people and families living with Parkinson’s, I’m just as inspired by community members like you who passionately support that mission. It has been a humbling experience.
I’ve been awestruck by the commitment of the volunteers, fundraisers and donors of SuperWalk, Pedaling for Parkinson’s, and Growling Beaver Brevet who push themselves both physically and in their creative fundraising efforts. Similarly, I have been inspired by the stories of our donors who invest in us with a goal to make the biggest impact they can to improve the quality of life for people with Parkinson’s. I am moved by your determination to end Parkinson’s and your conviction that a cure could be just a brilliant discovery or innovation away.
Since working for Parkinson Canada, I’ve realized that most of us know someone living with Parkinson’s. My insight into the necessity to raise awareness around the crucial issues of Canadians impacted by Parkinson’s has significantly deepened. The fact that the prevalence of Parkinson’s is growing gives my work an added urgency and reinforces my own resolve to make a difference.
I have read with interest the donor stories in this newsletter and have learned about your connections with and reasons for supporting our organization. Throughout my journey as a fundraiser, I have had the opportunity to connect with donors to show them the impact of their donations. I consider it an honour to do this work and I am grateful to have the chance to work with this enthusiastic and dedicated community.
With that spirit of gratitude, I would like to invite you to connect with me directly if you have any questions about how your donations are making a difference. I would be happy to share information on our impactful programs or to hear about your motivations in donating to Parkinson Canada. You can reach me at Candice.Naylen@Parkinson.ca.
I look forward to connecting with you as we move forward together to bring new hope to the Parkinson’s community.
